Emma Chiron
Emma is a visiting instructor and the Language Assistant at the French House where she lives. She teaches French 2020 this year at UVA. She has a research master’s degree in Philosophy from Sorbonne University and she studies in Ecole Normale Supérieure, in Paris. She is very interested in ethical and contemporary philosophy (especially ethics of care and feminist philosophy), links between literature and philosophy. She is fond of literature and history. Emma wrote her Master’s dissertation on “bavardage”(iddle talk) and tried to revalorize it in a feminist way, showing chatting has an existential and ethical value.
It is her first time in the United States and also her first teaching experience. She plans to become literature teacher in France, so she is very glad to have this opportunity to teach French at UVA.
