Visiting instructor from Paris, I teach French 2010 at UVa. I have a first-year research master's degree in English Studies from Université Paris VII - Paris Diderot and a research master's degree in English writings and translation from Université Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC). 

My first-year research master's degree was focusing on the ambivalent aspect of maternity within Syliva Plath's work, how it manifests itself and shows through her poetry ( = a reflection of an ambivalent motherhood in Sylvia Plath's poetry, through the notions of daughterhood and womanhood providing an utterly different perception of the self and as consequence of maternity). 

As for my master's degree at UPEC, I translated the first four chapters of a book never translated into French (Foe by Iain Reid) and I wrote a dissertation in "traductologie" (translation studies) on the difficulty of translating numerous and varied short sentences into French (i.e studying elisions, truncated sentences, noun sentences, question tags... how and why are they used in French/in English, what are the effects on a narration : meanings, rythm, style, register...how to translate them without impairing their meaning, the understand but above all the intention of both the author and the text). Mainly, how they convey and recreate orality in writing.

I am very passionnate about foreign languages, poetry and music. I have a previous experience in teaching French in Australia at an adult Language Center. It is my first time in the United-States, I hope to seize this opportunity to explore the United-States and regain my English level back, as I plan to become an English to French translator.
