Tim Crosby

Tim is a first-year master's student at UVA. He is an AFRICOM specialist officer in the Language Enabled Airmen Program for the United States Air Force. His primary research interests include the political sphere and changes in social structure in French West Africa, as well as the impact of modern-day politics through social expression and literature. Tim hopes to explore the ideas of Négritude, Pan-Africanism, and Black Lives Matter in a comparative analysis aiming to understand how these movements have both enacted change in their respective spheres while also interacting with one another through a historical lens. In addition to his research, Tim shows active interest in foreign language pedagogy along with cultural exchange through military and political means.
